Madelin Gómez-León

Madelin is a demographer scientist with a Ph.D. in Demography (Autonomous University of Barcelona-UAB, 2013). She joined the CNSC research group at IN3-UOC in September 2019 to carry out a 3-year research project “Understanding inequalities in (healthy) life expectancy in later life. An international comparison- InHALE.”

In this project, she will study the gender and country inequalities in the quantity and quality of the years gained in later life, with a special focus on how social engagement (face-to-face and digitally) affects wellbeing in old age. She also investigates topics related with health conditions, transitions to retirement and informal provision of support in later life.

Previously, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the ESRC Centre for Population Change, UK (2014-17) and at the Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology (RECSM), University Pompeu Fabra (2017-19).
